Job Description

Spruce Veterinary Urgent Care is a locally owned and independently operated facility in the Reedville area of south Hillsboro, Oregon. Spruce Veterinary Urgent Care represents an extension of our low-stress handling and thoughtful patient care philosophies that has made our general practice, Brooklyn Yard Veterinary Hospital, a stand-out practice in the Portland metro area. Our clinic is dedicated to filling a vital niche for compassionate and skilled urgent care services on the west side of the Portland metro area, driven by the people who understand that not one size fits all in terms of veterinary care. We are seeking detail-oriented, motivated and enthusiastic veterinary professionals to join our establishing team as full-time Veterinary Assistants. Position duties include, but are not limited to: Patient and appointment management & digital record keeping (our practice management system is Ezyvet) Assisting veterinarians and Certified Veterinary Technicians (CVT) with treatments and procedures Patient handling and restraint with an emphasis on low-stress handling/Fear Free Medication administration, filling prescriptions, and detailed discharge instructions to clients including medication information Venipuncture, IVC placement Digital radiology Processing of laboratory samples for both in-house evaluation and reference lab service Monitoring patients under sedation and/or anesthesia Cleaning and maintaining of the exam rooms, treatment area, and general hospital maintenance Instrument maintenance and cleaning Tackling projects as assigned Successful candidates will: Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills Have a demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing attention to detail or safety. Have a strong work ethic Have the ability to pay attention to the little details that makes a superior client/patient experience. Our veterinarians put a strong emphasis on low-stress visits for our patients. Be inquisitive, ask questions, and know how to utilize resources Be a self-starting individual of integrity who is adaptable and accountable Have high emotional intelligence. This can be a stressful job and how an individual chooses to communicate, both with clients and colleagues, can make all the difference!
The requirements:
A minimum of 1 year of recent experience working in a small animal veterinary hospital Must be able to work weekends Reliability Ability to comfortably lift 40 lbs Have strong communication skills with the desire to be a part of a team.
Schedule:
Day/evening shifts (between 8:30a-9:30p), weekends are required. We will be closed Wednesdays.

High school or equivalent (Required)
Experience:
At least 1 year of recent veterinary experience is required , but ideally more. Experience in an urgent care or ER clinic is preferred.
