Job Description The Fabrication Assistant works with welders to move material, complete post weld material preparation, and complete fabrication related tasks such as tube bending and plasma cutting. The employee may perform manual welding (tack welds) in which the work is entirely controlled by the welder, and semi-automatic welding, in which the welder uses machinery to perform welding tasks. This role focuses on cylinder production tasks such as seam welding, tube forming, and preparation for shipment with supervision and guidance. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Use basic hand tools commonly used in a metal fabrication environment to form tubing, secure fasteners, deburr sharp edges, and prepare orders for shipment
- Ability to fit, tack, and weld assemblies made of various materials (Aluminum & Stainless) rolled cylinders in accordance with various welding codes and specifications.
- Understand work orders and verbal instructions.
- Knowledge of general shop practices and shop safety.
- Position parts in various jigs and fixtures to obtain correct dimensions and orientation.
- Safely operate pallet jacks and fork trucks (training provided if needed).
- Focus on quality and quantity of work while performing tasks with a sense of urgency towards excellence.
- Report defective or questionable conditions to the Production Manager.
- Complete job assignments with minimum supervision. Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of aluminum seam welding experience
- Experience with mechanical assembly or metal forming preferred Physical Demands Regularly required to stand for 8-9 hours.
Pay:
$22.00 - $30.00 per hourBenefits:
