Job Title:
2nd Shift Fabrication Supervisor Job Description The 2nd shift fabrication supervisor is a working supervisor who leads daily fabrication operations while actively operating fabrication equipment for a significant portion of the shift. This role ensures safety, quality, productivity, and adherence to production schedules while supporting, training, and developing fabrication personnel. The core hours for this position is 3 pm to 11 pm with overtime as needed. Experience overseeing a team of 5 people is preferred, but not required. Responsibilities Supervise and support daily fabrication operations during the 2nd shift while actively operating fabrication equipment. Operate fabrication equipment, including lasers, press brakes, routers, saws, punch presses, and deburring equipment, to meet production requirements. Assign and prioritize work for the team to ensure production schedules and deadlines are consistently met. Train, mentor, and develop fabrication employees to build skills, promote cross-training, and support career growth. Coordinate daily activities and priorities with engineering, scheduling, and other departments to maintain smooth workflow and resolve issues quickly. Support and promote preventive maintenance activities on fabrication equipment to reduce downtime and extend equipment life. Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying process enhancements, supporting implementation, and reinforcing best practices. Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and housekeeping within the fabrication area. Communicate clearly with team members regarding expectations, work instructions, and changes in schedule or priorities. Essential Skills Hands-on sheet metal fabrication experience. Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings and work orders. Strong leadership and communication skills. Experience operating lasers, press brakes, routers, saws, punch presses, and deburring equipment. Ability to supervise and support daily fabrication operations while performing production work. Capability to assign and prioritize work to meet production schedules. Ability to train, mentor, and develop fabrication employees. Ability to coordinate effectively with engineering, scheduling, and other departments. Commitment to safety, quality, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior supervisory or lead experience in fabrication is preferred. Experience with fabrication processes and production environments. Familiarity with CAD software to support reading and understanding technical drawings. Experience in training and development of production staff. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly across multiple departments. Continuous improvement or process optimization is a plus. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oconto, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
