Master's degree Minimum 3 years' experience as a school counselor, college and career advisor, or with college, career, miltary readiness (CCMR) Knowledge of financial aid, FAFSA/TAFSA, college admissions, and post-secondary testing (SAT/ACT/TSIA) strongly preferred Experience in facilitating and providing training and public presentations Strong technical and analytical abilities Strong problem solving and organizational skills Knowledge of high school transcripts, current graduation requirements and enrollment Ability to lead groups and individuals in a positive manner Knowledge of the NCAA Eligibility Center requirements Knowledge of dual credit program, including dual credit student support servicesPrimary Purpose:
Provide support to students and parents in effective college and career planning. Coordinate the transition of Katy ISD students into post-secondary and/or career endeavors. Facilitate the achievement of all students by developing and implementing a comprehensive, developmental college, career, and military readiness (CCMR) Program for grades 9-12. Provide advising services to assist students in maximizing their education experiences by helping them explore opportunities, make educational, occupational and life plans. Plan, schedule, organize, and deliver CCMR activities consistent with students' post-secondary readiness needs.Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Sponsor and/or supervise activities to promote student goal setting, career planning, and transition to post-secondary education and training. Lead campus efforts for implementation of School Links, postsecondary education & career preparation, financial aid education, andFAFSA/TASFA
completion activities. Oversee, implement and coordinate college, career, and military readiness testing; specifically, the Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA), SAT/ACT, and ASVAB campus liaison. Facilitate and maintain a college and career center in the high school. Develop partnerships with college dual credit and career/technical training programs that facilitate a smooth transition to post-secondary opportunities for students. Conduct classroom guidance on college and career readiness and host periodic evening and/or weekend sessions for parents and students to attend. Support students in completing advisable college and scholarship applications. Utilize data collection methods to evaluate the campus' college and career readiness programs and events. Collaborate with campus leadership in the development of campus CCMR goals. Lead or assist the implementation of test preparation strategies and services to include TSIA interventions. Collaborate with UIL coaches and sponsors to provide information and trainings to students and parents seeking prospective NCAA college opportunities. Develop partnerships with military recruiters to coordinate campus visits and provide information for students and parents who are interested in a military career. Promote and advertise college events and scholarships via School Links and all available campus communication platforms. Oversee, implement, and track completion ofFAFSA/TASFA
applications, college application completion, scholarship applications, and scholarship awards. Assist campus with any necessary CCMR compliance activities. Maintain current knowledge of financial aid, FAFSA/TASFA, college admissions, and post-secondary placement testing (SAT/ACT, TSIA). Actively support the implementation of current and emerging programs designed to support post-secondary success. Participate in district professional development. Interpret and implement state mandates as they relate to college, career, and military readiness standards. Serve on district committees as assigned. Follow all district, state, and federal procedures policies and procedures. Demonstrate commitment to current professional standards of competence and practice.
