Facilities Maintenance (Bus Wash & Fueling)
Full-Time Location:
Coupeville, WA This position performs routine cleaning, fueling, and servicing of all agency vehicles and maintains agency facilities as needed.Benefits Include:

1. Operate a variety of public transit vehicles in preparation for system use. 2. Ensure the daily line-up of transit vehicles are serviced and ready for service. 3. Safely fuel vehicles. 4. Wash and clean buses and other agency vehicles (interior and exterior) using automated bus wash or by hand. Includes vacuuming, sweeping, cleaning floors, removing graffiti, cleaning spills and other cleaning needs. 5. Decontaminate vehicles following bio-hazard events following set safety procedures. 6. Conduct routine servicing; check fluids including oil, water windshield cleaner, antifreeze, fuel; add fluids as needed for optimum vehicle performance. 7. Perform minor routine repairs using a variety of hand and power tools and equipment. 8. Prepare and maintain records related to fuel, fluids, vehicle cleaning, and other associated records and reports. 9. Assist in inspecting transit vehicles to determine readiness for service; report damaged or defective equipment to maintenance personnel. 10. Clean and maintain agency facilities as needed, including restrooms, kitchen, and employee lounge and passenger areas. 11. Assist in snow removal at facilities during inclement weather conditions, as needed. 12. Record vehicle mileage and fuel data and other paperwork as part of the regular daily duties. 13. Retrieve articles left on buses by passengers; turn in items and information to dispatch office. 14. Ensure proper handling, labeling, storage and disposal of toxic cleansers and other potentially hazardous materials; maintain hazardous related records and prepare reports as required by state, federal or agency requirements. 15. Follow safety policies and procedures. Maintain a safe, clean work area. 16. Participate in training of new Facilities Maintenance personnel. 17. Wear Company provided uniform. Maintain good grooming standards while on duty. 18. Maintain regular and reliable attendance. 19. Perform other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
1. High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred. 2. One year of experience fueling and servicing vehicles, preferred. 3. Experience operating small machinery and tools related to the cleaning, of vehicles, preferred. 4. Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provide the knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the job. 5. Must possess a valid Washington State driver's license, and be able to obtain and maintain a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with passenger endorsement and air brake restriction lifted. Training & Testing provided by Island Transit. 6. Must have an acceptable driving record that meets the agency's hiring criteria and maintain acceptable driving record during employment.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS ANDABILITIES
- Safely operate transit vehicles in tight spaces, in darkness and all weather conditions.
- Operate fuel station and keypad systems.
- Ability to use automated bus wash equipment.
- Ability to use cleaning tools and accessories to clean vehicles.
- Communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing, with employees at all levels of the organization, customers and vendors.
- Relate effectively to individuals of various cultural, ethnic, and social-economic backgrounds as well as individuals with special needs.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Understand and follow posted work rules and procedures.
- Follow oral and written instructions from a supervisor.
- Ability to use good judgment while working independently.
- Interact effectively and positively as a team member.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that may vary, as needed.
