Solid background and understanding of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC troubleshooting and repairs. This includes conducting quality assessments, scheduling repairs, and developing preventative maintenance procedures. Duties and Responsibilities Makes periodic inspections of assigned facilities to determine condition Diagnoses problems and initiates necessary action; plans and schedules routine maintenance Establishes work priorities Maintains materials and equipment inventories Performs complex repair and maintenance tasks Maintenance duties such as painting, carpentry, masonry, cement work, and general upkeep involving structures, furnishings, equipment, floor coverings, acoustical ceiling, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, electrical, and related systems Repair electrical issues by replacing or installing components, wiring or devices Determine the steps necessary to assess an electrical situation using testing devices, blueprints, and maps Ensures that safety standards and regulations are observed Maintain all aspects of the building's safety systems, including fire alarms, emergency lighting & escape routes. Ensuring they are all maintained to a high standard, and where necessary or desirable improving existing facilities Initiate documentation, such as recording details of maintenance and health & safety checks in an efficient and organized manner Coordinate deliveries from vendors and suppliers Must be able to accommodate heavy travel schedule Education and/or Experience High School Diploma or GED Minimum of 2 years of general maintenance experience Technical training is preferred in the areas of electrical, mechanical, plumbing and other related fields. Formal/On the Job training may be considered as substitution for experience requirements. Preferred Journeyman Electrician Basic computer skills and the ability to read blueprints and schematics. Clean driving record with valid driver's license Experience troubleshooting and correcting electrical or mechanical problems, maintaining inventory levels and scheduling work Knowledge of building maintenance and repair methods, materials, tools, and equipment; the operation and repair of building mechanical and electrical systems; housekeeping and janitorial tasks and standards; safety standards and regulations. Ability to keep records and prepare reports. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and department officials. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk stairs and/or climb ladders. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
