Job Description
Facilities Manager Full Time - 40 hrs/week. Day shifts. Rotating on-call requirement for emergent needs afterhours and weekends. The Facilities Manager is responsible for keeping the hospital's physical environment safe, operational, compliant, and efficient . It combines building operations, maintenance leadership, regulatory compliance, budgeting, and emergency response. The Facilities Manager is responsible for all maintenance and repairs of the interior and exterior at Sakakawea Medical Center, Senior Suites, and Coal Country Community Health Center. Duties include equipment repair, grounds maintenance, inspections of buildings, vehicles management, oversight of utility systems, and maintaining heating and cooling, electrical, and plumbing systems. The Facilities Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with life safety code regulations. Performs other duties as assigned according to the established standards of the Maintenance department policies and procedures. Must be able to read, speak, write, and follow oral and written instructions. Preference given to candidates with a related college degree or trade school degree. Demonstrated experience in a related field. Must have a knowledge of building systems, utilities, and maintenance operations. Must have knowledge to work with and repair the machines, motors, vehicles, structures, and fixtures common in the healthcare setting. Must be knowledgeable of life safety code regulations. Must be able to prioritize work projects, exercising independent decision-making. Must be able to work with people in a tactful and diplomatic manner exercising sound judgment and discretion. Must be a good communicator and a good team leader. Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
E SSENTIAL F UNCTIONS , R OLES , AND R ESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the maintenance department. Responsible for managing multiple systems including: HVAC Electrical systems Plumbing Medical gas systems Backup generators Fire/life safety systems Supervises maintenance staff and contractors. Assists in hiring, coaching, and disciplining of staff. Ensures compliance with healthcare regulations and life safety code regulations from organizations including CMS, OSHA, State Health Department, and local inspectors. Manages preventive maintenance programs. Conducts maintenance inspections inside and outside of buildings, grounds, equipment, and utility systems to ensure safe operation and maintains records of the maintenance inspections. Responds to emergencies and equipment failures. Responsible for assisting in the orientation of new employees. Responsible for and maintains the department budgets. Provides updates and training for s taff on a regular basis. Actively involved in construction or renovation projects and working with any contractors. Repairs equipment or arranges for equipment repairs or replacement in a timely manner. Researches solutions to problems, requests bids for projects, oversees projects, and makes equipment purchase recommendations to Administration by researching estimates on the required equipment. Leads the maintenance department, assisting with all maintenance duties. Oversees all grounds maintenance, including mowing, trimming, watering, snow removal, painting, repair and replacement, etc. Responsible for vehicle equipment maintenance.O THER D UTIES
Conducts fire, disaster, and storm drills according to state regulations and department policy and procedure. Maintains a good working inventory of supplies and returns tools and supplies to the proper location after each use. Maintains a clean and safe working environment and assists with contractors to coordinate safe working conditions for the public, patients, residents, and employees during any building renovation projects. Checks and dates fire extinguishers. Keeps checklists and records of inspections on structural and equipment items.Miscellaneous duties include:
Delivering supplies as requested, Setting up and taking down materials needed for meetings and organization-related functions, Ensures all maintenance requests are completed according to department policy and procedures.A DDITIONAL N OTES
