Job Description
Company Overview The Humane Society of Harford County, Inc. (HSHC) is a dedicated non-profit animal shelter committed to the welfare of approximately 4,500 animals each year. Our mission is to end pet overpopulation and advocate for the humane treatment of all animals. We believe in providing loving homes for pets and educating the community on responsible pet ownership. Summary We are seeking a Facilities Manager to oversee the maintenance and operations of our shelter facilities in Harford County. This role is vital in ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for our animals and visitors. The Facilities Manager will play a key role in supporting our mission by maintaining our facilities to the highest standards. Responsible for all daily janitorial cleaning, preventative and routine maintenance for all buildings, equipment, vehicles, and grounds. Completing in-house repairs and maintenance whenever possible, and coordinating with outside contractors when required. Work with the Operations Manager and Executive Director to develop and implement Workplace Safety & Health program and ensure OSHA compliance.

Janitorial Responsibilities:
Cleaning and Upkeep:
Maintain cleanliness in all areas, including animal care facilities, offices, and public spaces.Inventory Management:
Monitor and maintain inventory of Janitorial/Maintenance supplies, placing orders as necessary to ensure adequate stock levels.Maintenance Responsibilities:
Routine Maintenance:
Perform regular inspections and maintenance on buildings, grounds, and equipment to ensure a safe and functional environment. Perform all Preventive Maintenance task on time.Repairs:
Address maintenance requests including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and other repair tasks as needed.Equipment Maintenance:
Maintain and repair tools and equipment used in daily operations, ensuring everything is in proper working order.Safety Compliance:
Ensure that all maintenance work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and organizational policies.Collaboration:
Work closely with Managers and other staff members to prioritize and complete maintenance projects and repairs.Facilities Responsibilities Emergency Response:
Assist in emergency situations, including facility repairs due to accidents or natural events.Set up for meetings:
Set the conference room up for all meetings scheduled for the Conference roomStock Room:
Ensure all stock rooms are clean and organized and all exits are clear and not obstructedRecord Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks performed, including dates, materials used, and any follow-up actions needed.Federal/State Regulations:
Ensure all OSHA and MOSH complianceVehicles:
Make sure all HSHC vehicles are in good working order, safe to operate, and meet MVA Requirements. This list is not an inclusive list of duties/responsibilities.Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification is a plus. Previous experience in janitorial service, maintenance, repair, or a related field. Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, and general building maintenance. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills and a customer service-oriented approach. Physical ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting and carrying heavy items.Work Environment:
The Maintenance Technician will work in various environments including indoor and outdoor settings, sometimes under inclement weather conditions. Potential exposure to cleaning agents, animals, and other conditions typical of a humane society setting. Requirements Experience in cleaning a large building to maintain a clean and safe environment for customers and staff. Proven experience in facilities management or a related field. Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
