• Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date. Due to the available budget allocated for this position, the hiring rate will not exceed $26.88 per hour. Why does the job exist? The purpose of this position is to ensure the proper supervision and implementation of a staff development program in a correctional facility to include maintaining individual training files, classroom instruction, preparing an annual training plan, and preparing lessons plans. How does it get done? Facilitating training Coordinating training Developing training related to Correctional Officers and Non-Security Staff Members Who are the customers? New Mexico Correction Department (NMCD) Ideal Candidate New Mexico Correction Department (NMCD) Minimum Qualification Associate's Degree in any field as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of this classification and two (2) years of experience in law enforcement, adult corrections, classroom instruction, and/or teaching. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Employment Requirements This position is designated as safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules, and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must be a United States Citizen, and must have reached the age of majority. Employment is subject to pre-employment background investigation and is conditional pending results. Working Conditions Work is performed in an adult prison environment which includes daily contact with inmates.
