The Cedarville University Robert W. Plaster School of Business invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Communication with expertise in Broadcasting and Digital Media Journalism. Rank is commensurate with experience and credentials. Eligibility for a tenure-track appointment will be determined based on institutional needs and candidate qualifications at the time of hire. This faculty position will equip students with technical proficiency in film and video production equipment, including DSLR and digital cinema cameras, grip and lighting equipment, and single-camera and multi-camera production workflows. The position will also focus on preproduction and production concepts for fiction and nonfiction projects. We seek an educator who desires to guide students to reflect Christ in their work and relationships as students learn and practice multiple roles in the film and video production pipeline. The teaching load includes twenty-four semester credit hours of teaching responsibility, or the equivalent, each academic year of two semesters. Additional expectations include academic advising, professional development, scholarly activity in the field, University service, committee membership, and professional activity on campus and with external stakeholders, and maintaining academic credentials as well as discipline-specific research/methodology/pedagogy. Employment is subject to the University's verification of credentials along with other information required by law and Cedarville University policies, including the successful completion of a background check. Position Requirements:
Terminal degree in discipline preferred; no less than Master's degree in Film Production, Video Production, Media Arts, Cinema Studies, or a closely related field (or Bachelor's degree with significant professional industry experience and/or progress toward Master's) Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team member Excellent written and oral communication skills Committed to biblical integration in and out of the classroom Experience working in collaborative production environments with defined crew roles Prior teaching experience at the college or professional-training level or demonstrated mentoring/training experience in industry settings Commitment to education, scholarship, and service based on University and school expectations Qualified applicant must be a born-again Christian with a personal commitment to Jesus Christ Qualified applicant must agree with and be willing to abide by Cedarville University's Doctrinal Statement, Community Covenant, and General Work Place Standards.
Additional Technical Skills & Knowledge Requirements:
Production scheduling and crew organization Budgeting fundamentals and production paperwork and logistics Proficiency with digital cinema and video cameras and their support systems Experience with grip equipment Familiarity with camera department roles (ACs, operators, grips, gaffers) Experience with multicamera workflows for live and recorded content Knowledge of directing, technical directing, switching, and timing under live conditions Production workflows for short and long-form video projects Visual storytelling Interview techniques and field audio/video capture Ethical production practices We Offer an
