1. Valid driver's license. 2. Appropriate State of Ohio certification. 3. High school graduate or equivalent, preferably with one year of college training or currently enrolled in a teacher education program 4. Demonstrates a sincere desire to aid all students. 5. Good health, high moral character, and good attendance record. 6. Such additional qualifications as The Board of Education may find appropriate. 7. At the discretion of the Board of Education alternate job qualifications may be substituted.General Description:
To help, assist, and give aid/support for the effective and efficient operation of the classroom and to the teacher in the learning-teaching process so students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials.Essential Functions:
1. Works with students, individually, and in small groups under the supervision of a certificated teacher. 2. Aids students with their tasks, reads to students, listens to students read, conducts activities that work to maintain previous teaching. 3. Helps students move from one activity to another in the classroom. 4. Assists with seat work. 5. Assists with supervision of students at recess, breaks, and so forth. 6. Helps children with programmed materials. 7. Assists teacher with checking of individual skills of children. 8. Plays learning games. 9. Assists students who were absent in make-up work. 10. Promotes good social relationships between children. 11. Responds to students in a kind, fair, and interested manner. 12. Reinforces school rules to children. 13. Aids students with getting in and out of wearing apparel and footwear. 14. Prepares materials for class projects. 15. Assists in maintaining bulletin boards and displays. 16. Prepares masters for duplicating. 17. Duplicates materials for class. 18. Grades papers - limited to rote type work. 19. Distributes communiques to be sent home with the children. 20. Administers first-aid services to children and assist children with toileting as needed. 21. Takes daily attendance and lunch count; collects lunch and milk monies as requested. 22. Handles correspondence. 23. Supervises general housekeeping duties. 24. Makes school-related telephone calls for the teacher which do not concern discipline or academics. 25. Assists the teacher in supervision of various classroom activities, field trips, and so forth. 26. Assists in setting up and operation of audio-visual equipment. 27. Assists students in the library media center. 28. Serves as main source of information and help to substitute teacher. 29. Alerts the teacher to any problem or special information she/he may have about a student. 30. Participates in relevant in-service education programs as directed by the building principal. 31. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior, confidentiality of information about students, staff, and parents. 32. Assists students on bus and/or school transportation vehicles as needed or assigned by the administration. Assists driver with behavioral issues to ensure safe and efficient travel to and from school and school programming (including field trips). 33. Assists classroom teacher in preparation of class materials as well as assisting students with educational software—including adaptive materials such as braille or other software designed for intervention or handicapping condition.Other Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings; 2. Helps instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values; and 3. Conducts other duties related to the aide's duties as assigned by the principal and/or local superintendent.ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue. 2. Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions. 3. Occasional interaction among unruly children.Position Type:
