Per course adjunct faculty for the Teacher Education Department course, MSTE 363/563-02 C&I Literacy 1 (3 units) Founded in 1863, Saint Mary's is a residential campus nestled 20 miles east of San Francisco in the picturesque Moraga Valley. Curriculum and Instruction, Literacy I (3 Units.) Tuesdays 4:45 -7:30PM In Person Fall Semester August 31-December 18, 2026 In this course, candidates survey theory and methods for teaching reading and language arts in the primary grades. Balanced, literature-based, integrated, process-oriented curriculum is emphasized. Literacy instruction for English learners is integrated into the curriculum. The course incorporates content included in the Reading Instruction Competence Assessment (RICA). It is aligned with theCalifornia Common Core State Standards:
English Language Arts and Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects and the California English Language Development Standards.Qualifications:
