Farm Accountant

Job Summary Shepherds Brook Farms is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accountant to manage the financial records of our farm operation. This role is critical to keeping our day-to-day operations running smoothly, from tracking livestock-related expenses to managing accounts payable / receivable and preparing financial reports. The ideal candidate is organized, trustworthy, and comfortable working semi-independently. Responsibilities Maintain accurate financial records for the farm, including accounts payable and receivable. Prepare the month end and year end closing process including accruals and journal entries. Record and reconcile daily, weekly, and monthly transactions. Reconcile cattle headcount. Reconcile bank accounts and credit cards. Assist with budgeting, cash flow tracking, and cost analysis. Prepare and assist with year-end reporting and tax preparation. Ensure compliance with applicable financial and agricultural regulations. Organize and maintain digital and paper financial records. Qualifications Proven experience in a similar accounting role. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred). Or equivalent years of related work experience. Experience with agricultural, ranching, or livestock operations strongly preferred. Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or similar). Strong understanding of GAAP principles. High attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Comfortable working independently and communicating with farm management.

Pay:

From $55,000.00 per year
