Job Description

One hundred twenty-three (123) farmworkers are needed to work across Wood County, Sandusky County, Henry County, and Lucas County, Ohio, to assist with the planting, cultivation, harvesting, and packing of peppers, melons, and pumpkins. Duties include planting pepper and melon transplants in field rows, staking and tying plants, pulling plastic mulch and drip tape, installing and maintaining irrigation systems, removing weeds and debris, and performing general field cleanup. Workers will harvest peppers by hand using tools such as shears or knives, pick pumpkins by cutting vines and moving fruit using a team carry system, and harvest melons based on ripeness standards for loading into bins or trailers. Additional work includes unloading produce at on-site packing facilities for washing, grading, labeling, and packing. Applicants must have at least 1 month of farm experience, be able to lift up to 60 pounds, and perform physically demanding work including prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and repetitive hand labor in all weather conditions. On-the-job training and equipment will be provided. Work is performed outdoors and in packing facilities located on the farm. Salarios:
Workers will be paid $14.38 per hour, with the opportunity to earn more through piece-rate work. H-2A workers under this contract will be paid $13.15 per hour.

Employers must follow current AEWR rates and apply adverse compensation adjustments for H-2A workers receiving free employer-provided housing, as required by state guidelines under the interim rule. Workers hired from beyond normal commuting distance will be reimbursed for inbound transportation costs. Workers who complete the full work contract will also receive outbound transportation.
