Job Description
DESCRIPTION
As a Superintendent/SSHO reporting to the Project Manager, you will have the opportunity to:Lead, schedule, coordinate, and supervise construction activities, including oversight of craft labor and subcontractor work.
Coordinate the project's safety program and ensure full compliance with policies and procedures outlined in the Site-Specific Safety Plan.
Manage subcontractors to ensure adherence to OSHA regulations and the project's established safety program.
Conduct daily safety inspections of active work areas and promptly address unsafe conditions or behaviors.
Facilitate weekly toolbox talks and provide safety updates to clients during progress meetings.
Plan and oversee subcontractor and/or craft activities by determining methods of construction, manpower requirements, material needs, equipment usage, temporary utilities, and work schedules, while documenting actual hours worked.
Coordinate assigned work with other trades, internal departments, and external contractors.
Review all safety-related documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely submission according to established procedures.
Maintain communication with engineering, estimating, and planning teams to ensure work aligns with drawings, specifications, and schedules.
Identify and assist in resolving construction challenges such as productivity issues, trade interface concerns, drawing conflicts, and site condition discrepancies.
Monitor field compliance with project safety and quality control requirements, document findings, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Support Project Management in developing the Project Execution Schedule, site logistics plans, project procedures, and performance standards.
Track schedule progress on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
Develop four-week look-ahead schedules and review them weekly with the construction team and subcontractors.
Requirements:
Ten or more years of experience as a Superintendent, including responsibilities such as scheduling, procurement, field supervision, quality control, safety oversight, and managing all phases of construction on mid-sized projects. Four or more years of field or trade experience in the construction industry is also required.Five years of construction safety management experience, OSHA 30 certification, and documented annual safety training.
Knowledge, skills, and experience with U.S. construction methods, techniques, and industry standards.
Experience working with Federal Government clients (e.g., NPS, USACE or similar) is preferred.
Experience with historical renovation projects is preferred.
Resume must indicate primary area of expertise (e.g., civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, materials, finishes, etc.).
