Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Fiber Optic Field Technician to join our team as a 1099 independent contractor. In this role, you will be responsible having your own vehicle and tools for installing, maintaining, and repairing fiber optic networks to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Your expertise will help connect communities and support cutting-edge telecommunication services. This position offers the opportunity to work in dynamic environments, utilizing your technical skills to deliver high-quality service and solutions. Responsibilities Install and troubleshoot fiber optic cables in various outdoor and indoor settings, ensuring precise connections and optimal signal quality. Conduct network installation tasks, including setting up routers and other telecommunication equipment. Perform cable management, terminations, and testing using hand tools and testing devices. Diagnose electrical issues related to low voltage systems, Ethernet connections, telephony lines, and other network components. Utilize mechanical knowledge to assemble and secure cable pathways in conduit or aerial configurations while adhering to safety standards. Conduct field service activities including site surveys, system testing, and troubleshooting network problems efficiently. Maintain detailed documentation of work performed and service reports for client records. Requirements Proven experience in fiber network installation and telecommunication systems. Hands-on experience with field service operations involving hand tools and testing equipment (e.g. ohmmeters). Familiarity with telephony systems, cabling practices, and low voltage electrical wiring. Mechanical aptitude for working with conduit, cable trays, connectors, and related hardware. Prior service technician experience in telecommunications or electrical fields is preferred. Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to troubleshooting network issues on-site. Additional Details This is a 1099 independent contractor position, requiring 5 days per week with a flexible schedule. Must provide your own vehicle, insurance, and all necessary tools and equipment.
