Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Field Director of Cultural Resource Management to lead and oversee the protection, documentation, and analysis of cultural heritage sites within designated project areas. This pivotal role involves coordinating field activities, supervising teams, and ensuring compliance with cultural preservation standards. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for cultural conservation, strong leadership skills, and technical expertise in data collection and geographic information systems (GIS). Responsibilities Lead and supervise field teams responsible for cultural resource surveys, excavations, and data collection efforts across multiple project sites. Develop detailed work plans, schedules, and safety protocols to ensure efficient and compliant field operations. Utilize GIS software such as ArcGIS to map, analyze, and interpret spatial data related to cultural sites. Conduct precise GPS-based data collection to document site locations, features, and artifacts with accuracy. Oversee laboratory processing of collected samples and artifacts, ensuring proper handling and documentation. Prepare comprehensive reports detailing findings, methodologies, and recommendations for preservation or further research. Collaborate with archaeologists, historians, construction teams, and regulatory agencies to coordinate project activities effectively. Skills Extensive laboratory experience in artifact processing, conservation techniques, or related fields. Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS) for spatial analysis and mapping of cultural sites. Strong knowledge of GPS technology for accurate field data collection. Demonstrated experience in conducting research, analysis, and detailed report writing on cultural resources. Supervising experience leading field crews or multidisciplinary teams in dynamic environments. Familiarity with construction processes as they relate to archaeological site management or preservation efforts. Excellent technical writing skills for preparing detailed reports, proposals, and documentation.
