Job Description
Position Summary Seeking a self-motivated Field Service Technician to diagnose, repair, rebuild, and maintain mobile and stationary heavy equipment including cranes, loaders, crushers, shredders, balers, conveyors, and related machinery. This role works primarily at customer job sites and requires strong mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, welding, and troubleshooting skills, along with a strong commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities System Diagnostics & Repair :
Execute complex repairs on mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems for heavy-duty industrial equipment.Maintenance & Overhaul :
Perform full equipment rebuilds, comprehensive preventative maintenance, and specialized technical training.Advanced Fabrication :
Utilize welding, fabrication, machining, and precision assembly techniques to restore or enhance equipment functionality.Field Operations :
Operate portable machining equipment and precision measuring tools to maintain tight tolerances in the field.Technical Compliance :
Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to ensure all repairs meet OEM specifications.Documentation & Safety :
Maintain meticulous service records while strictly adhering to OSHA and MSHA safety regulations.Remote Autonomy :
Travel to diverse customer sites and execute high-level repairs independently across all weather conditions. Essential Functions To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation. Follow all safety, sanitation, OSHA, and MSHA regulations; utilize required PPE at all times. Inspect, operate, and test heavy equipment to diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical defects. Dismantle, repair, rebuild, and reassemble heavy equipment using hand tools, hoists, jacks, cranes, and portable field machining equipment. Repair or replace damaged, worn, or defective components and subassemblies. Perform routine maintenance, including cleaning, lubricating, and servicing equipment and vehicles. Overhaul and test machines and equipment to ensure operating efficiency and compliance with manufacturer specifications. Read and interpret operating manuals, blueprints, technical drawings, and hydraulic schematics. Measure and inspect components using micrometers, vernier calipers, gauges, and other precision tools. Mic bores, install bearings, and assemble shafts, gears, and related assemblies. Perform equipment alignments including motors, drive shafts, gears, and related components. Diagnose, repair, rewire, and troubleshoot electrical systems. Troubleshoot hydraulic systems and components, including pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, and seals. Disassemble and rebuild hydraulic cylinders, pumps, motors, and valves. Weld, fabricate, and repair equipment and structural components in all welding positions. Fabricate required parts from sheet metal or other materials. Set up and operate portable boring, drilling, milling, and related field machining equipment. Schedule maintenance activities and maintain accurate service and repair records. Direct or assist other workers involved in equipment assembly, disassembly, or cleaning as required. Perform work primarily at customer locations to effect repairs and improvements. Work Environment & Physical Demands Position requires regular travel and work at customer job sites. Must possess a valid driver's license and meet all requirements for a medical card. Must be self-sufficient and capable of working independently. Must be willing to work away from home for extended periods. Ability to work effectively with others in team environments. Must be willing to work in all types of weather conditions. Job involves exposure to hazards including moving mechanical parts, vehicles, electrical current, working at heights, scaffolding, and exposure to high heat or extreme cold.
