Job Title:
Sustaining Field Service Technician (Day Shift and Night Shift Compressed) Job Description The Sustaining Field Service Technician (Day and Night Shift Compressed) maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs complex thermal management systems and related equipment in a semiconductor manufacturing environment. This role focuses on sustaining and optimizing large machinery, diagnosing both electrical and mechanical issues, and ensuring continuous, reliable operation of equipment on site. The technician works hands-on with tools and systems in a cleanroom and manufacturing setting, often in specialized attire and using a respirator, while collaborating closely with both on-site teams and the client. Responsibilities Maintain and troubleshoot large thermal management systems and related equipment to ensure stable and efficient operation. Perform heavier troubleshooting activities, balancing approximately 50% electrical and 50% mechanical diagnostic work. Use logic, available resources, and technical documentation to identify root causes and resolve equipment issues in a timely manner. Provide installation and service support for thermal management systems to support the continuation and expansion of the business. Maximize equipment output using constraint management techniques while sustaining stable processes and minimizing downtime. Carry out repairs and adjustments on vacuum systems, pumps, and other electro-mechanical components as needed. Regularly work with dirty tools and around hazardous materials while following all safety procedures and guidelines. Use basic math skills and measurement tools to support troubleshooting, calibration, and repair activities. Utilize computer systems, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and email, to document work, track issues, and communicate with the team. Train and cross-train team members on equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting methods. Contribute to building a self-sustaining team by sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues, and collaborating on problem-solving. Communicate clearly and professionally with both the client and internal team members regarding equipment status, issues, and resolutions. Request assistance when needed and escalate complex issues appropriately to ensure timely resolution. Follow all cleanroom protocols, including wearing a bunny suit and respirator as required, and adhere to safety practices when working with chemicals and hazardous materials. Work in confined spaces and remain on your feet for extended periods while performing maintenance and repair tasks. Essential Skills Electro-mechanical experience (2+ years) in maintenance, repair, or field service environments. Hands-on experience with electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, including reading and interpreting basic schematics. Proficiency using hand tools and power tools for maintenance and repair tasks. Experience with or exposure to vacuum systems, pumps, and mechanical assemblies. Ability to use a multimeter for electrical testing and diagnostics. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to logically diagnose and resolve technical issues. Self-starter mindset with the ability to manage individual tasks while supporting team objectives. Basic math skills to support troubleshooting, measurements, and documentation. Computer literacy, including experience with word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and email. Strong communication skills to interact effectively with the client and internal team members. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely as part of daily duties. Comfort working in a cleanroom environment and wearing cleanroom attire (bunny suit). Willingness and ability to wear a respirator for significant portions of the workday, as required. Comfort working in confined spaces and standing for long periods of time. Ability to work safely around hazardous materials and chemicals while following established procedures. High school diploma or equivalent. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate degree preferred in a technical, automotive/diesel, or related field. Experience working with thermal management systems or similar large industrial equipment. Familiarity with constraint management techniques to maximize equipment output. Experience reading and working from detailed schematics and technical documentation. Experience in field service, maintenance, or mechanical repair in industrial or manufacturing environments. Experience in a semiconductor, cleanroom, or high-tech manufacturing setting. Ability to effectively train and cross-train team members on equipment and processes. Work Environment The role is based in a combination of office and semiconductor fabrication/manufacturing environments. Time is split between using computer systems in an office setting and performing hands-on work in a fab where large thermal management systems and related equipment operate. The position requires regular work around hazardous materials and chemicals, with strict adherence to safety protocols. In the fab, you will wear cleanroom attire (bunny suit) and, when required, a respirator that may be used for a substantial portion of the workday. Work often takes place in confined spaces and requires standing for extended periods while handling tools and equipment. The environment is highly technical, process-driven, and safety-focused, with extensive use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic instruments such as multimeters, alongside standard office software for documentation and communication. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hillsboro, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.75/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
