Description Job Title Fund Accountant I Location Fairbanks, AK, US Organization Name Administration Job Summary Job Summary:
Job incumbent applies the principles of accounting within the assigned area of accounting or group of funds. Creates and interprets complex financial statements and reports and specializes in a specific area of accounting. Some familiarity with and an awareness of the laws and regulations that apply to an accounting function are required to ensure compliance. This position assists in the daily transactions of all TCC programs with the objective of enhancing native culture, furthering education, and providing assistance for the essential needs programs. Focus is on furthering the abilities of member villages toward governing themselves with the ability to operate independently on a financial level. Adhere to the TCC Ch'eghwtsen' model of service and guiding principle which requires providing timely and effective service along with the ability to interact with others in a way that inspires trust and demonstrates respect, compassion and empathy.Essential Functions Essential Functions:

Under the direct supervision of the Controller, job incumbent: 1. Analyzes award balance sheets, expenditures, and revenue to assure compliance with GAAP and specific grant guidelines. 2. Monitors cash flow, requesting drawdowns when appropriate. 3. Updates program directors on status of their programs. Assists them with budget revisions and inquiries. 4. Records, classifies, and summarizes financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. 5. Applies a working knowledge of applicable rules and regulations when reviewing grant transactions. 6. Initiates and processes journal entries into various accounts and reconciles sub-ledgers to the general ledger and resolves differences. 7. Provides information to program managers and individuals or organizations outside of Tanana Chiefs Conference, explains accounting transactions; resolves accounting issues and discrepancies. 8. Reviews all budgets and changes from program directors. Works with program directors for accuracy in budgets and expenditures. 9. Reviews accountants balance sheets to verify accuracy and clearing ofA/P, A/R
in timely manner. Verifies that financial reports are sent to granting agencies on a timely basis. 10. Follows policies and procedures manual for accounting department. 11. Receives all grant funding documents. Verifies and maintains grant master file to assure organized documentation for auditor and agency reviews. 12. Prepares financial reports for state, federal, and general funds. Meets various reporting deadlines.Other Responsibilities:
1. Performs other job related duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or equivalent related experience. 2. Advance knowledge in the use of financial software applications, databases, spreadsheets, and/or word processing required. 3. Must pass background check pursuant to federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements.Knowledge, Skills and Responsibilities:
1. Experience with computerized accounting systems (ORACLE). 2. Governmental/fund accounting knowledge. 3. Be able to read and write clearly with large volume of paperwork.Supervision:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.Supervision Physical demands:
There are no unusual demands of the position. Requirements are those of normal office type work with extended hours of sitting and operation of standard office and computer equipment. Job incumbent may be required at times to lift and carry up to fifty pounds in support of material. Some overtime required when necessary. Be able to hear and speak effectively when interacting with others and vision is required for computer usage, paperwork, and color-coded documents.Summation Summation:
This is a high public contact position with frequent interaction with employees, clients, granting agencies, banking personnel, Tribes, and others.
