Our Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring that our company culture propagates through everything that Accounting governs at MSRC. This includes the mentorship of our Accounting Analyst and personal integration into our corporate team.
Job Overview:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations for MSRC and serves as a mentor and resource to the Accounting Analyst. This role works closely cross-functionally with Contracts, Program Control, HR, and Operations to support consistent financial practices and effective communication across the organization. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in government contract accounting and a deep understanding of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), DCAA audit requirements, and DFARS compliance. The Senior Accountant is also expected to model company values and contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform and support day-to-day accounting operations, including A/P, A/R, payroll, billing, and general ledger activities. Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting policies to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Support and maintain accounting system (i.e., Unanet) and ensure accurate project accounting and timekeeping. Collaborate cross-functionally with Contracts, Program Control, HR, and Operations teams to ensure consistent financial practices and effective communication. Monitor and maintain indirect rate structures, allocations, and cost pools to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance. Support external and internal audits, including DCAA and independent financial audits, ensuring readiness and compliance. Contribute to continuous process improvements that strengthen internal controls, enhance efficiency, and ensure full compliance across entities. Provide mentorship and day-to-day guidance to the Accounting Analyst.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or Master's degree preferred.
Job Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in Accounting or 5+ year of other relevant experience. Supervisory or managerial experience preferred. Experience with CPFF, FFP, and T&M projects. Knowledge of ERP systems, Wide Area Work Flow, and Exostar. Proficient with MS Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Must possess advanced knowledge in MS Excel. Must possess strong attention to detail; strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Must be able to work well independently or in a team environment. Qualified candidate should have knowledge of AMCOM Express or similar IDIQ contract requirements. Knowledge of GAAP and DCAA standards strongly preferred.
