About Us BjERK Builders, LLC is a growing construction company committed to delivering high-quality projects safely, on time, and within budget. We specialize in commercial, industrial, retail, and office Tenant Improvements / Ground-Up construction. Our success is built on strong relationships, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence in every project we undertake. Position Summary BjERK Builders is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Job Cost Accountant to join our team. This position plays a critical role in monitoring project financial performance, maintaining accurate job cost records, and providing timely reporting to support project managers and company leadership. The ideal candidate will have construction accounting experience and a strong understanding of job costing principles. Experience with Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate (CRE) is highly preferred. Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate job cost records for multiple construction projects.
  • Review and process project-related invoices, subcontractor pay applications, and purchase orders.
  • Monitor project budgets and costs, identifying variances and potential issues.
  • Prepare and distribute job cost reports to project managers and company leadership.
  • Assist with monthly project billings, revenue recognition, and work-in-progress (WIP) reporting.
  • Reconcile project costs and support month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Coordinate with project managers to ensure costs are coded and allocated correctly.
  • Assist with subcontractor compliance documentation, including lien waivers, insurance certificates, and contracts.
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed.
  • Collaborate with accounting and operations teams to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency.
  • Maintain confidential financial information and company records. Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of job costing, project accounting, and construction financial processes.
  • Experience with Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate (CRE) is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and identify cost trends and discrepancies.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with construction payroll and certified payroll reporting.
  • Familiarity with AIA billing procedures and WIP schedules.
  • Knowledge of construction contracts, change orders, and subcontract management.
  • Experience supporting project managers with financial reporting and budget tracking. What We Offer

  • Ability to remain seated and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasional visits to active construction sites may be required.
