Job Description:
Meade is seeking an organized, proactive Senior Staff Accountant to join our team. This position will play a crucial role in the accounting department by managing and overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations. The ideal candidate for this position will bring expertise that will contribute to the financial health and success of the organization. Job Duties:
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Own the maintenance of the general ledger, including account reconciliation and adjustments. Ensure all transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner. Lead the month-end close process, ensuring all financial data is accurate and complete. Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations. Assist with internal and external audits by providing documentation, schedules, and explanations as needed. Implement audit recommendations to improve processes and controls. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies and procedures. Stay current with changes in accounting standards and regulations. Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts. Monitor performance against budgets and provide variance analysis. Perform detailed analysis of financial data, identify trends, and provide insights to support decision-making. Investigate and resolve discrepancies or issues. Identify opportunities for process improvements within the accounting function. Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Maintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation. Ensure all records are readily accessible for review and audit purposes. Summarizes financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other documents. Assist in payroll processing by ensuring accurate and timely calculation, recording, and distribution of employee compensation in compliance with company policies and regulations. Assist with special projects, including ERP implementation, new accounting standard adoption, system upgrades, and other strategic initiatives. Support ad-hoc requests from management and cross-functional teams by providing financial analysis, data, and reporting as needed. Minimum Qualifications:
7+ years of accounting experience. Bachelor's degree in accounting or relevant finance; accounting certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. High level of integrity and professionalism. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Compensation & Benefits:
This is an in-office position located in Tempe, AZ. This position may be available to candidates residing in the following states: AL, AZ, AR, FL, GA, IN, MI, MO, NV, OH, OK, SC, TX, UT, VA, WA, WV
; however, preference will be given to AZ applicants. Compensation and benefits are subject to eligibility requirements and may vary based on location and applicable laws. The pay range for this position will be provided in accordance with applicable state and local laws. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, internal equity, geographic location, and business needs. The estimate pay ranges for this role are as follows: Virginia:
$103,000-$133,000 Washington:
