We are partnering with a growing Scottsdale-based organization seeking a Staff Accountant with a strong foundation in payroll accounting . This role is ideal for an accounting professional who understands the accounting and reconciliation side of payroll rather than payroll processing itself. Responsibilities Record and reconcile payroll-related journal entries. Analyze payroll transactions and ensure accurate posting to the general ledger. Reconcile payroll accounts, liabilities, benefits, taxes, and related balance sheet accounts. Assist with month-end and year-end close activities. Support account reconciliations, financial reporting, and audit requests. Review payroll reports for accounting accuracy and resolve discrepancies. Partner with HR and payroll teams to ensure accurate financial reporting of payroll-related activities. Maintain compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. Assist with process improvements and ad hoc accounting projects as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. 2+ years of accounting experience with significant exposure to payroll accounting. Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and month-end close. Experience working with payroll accruals, payroll taxes, benefits accounting, and payroll-related reconciliations. Proficiency with QuickBooks required. Strong Excel skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. Preferred Experience in a fast-paced, growing business environment.
