$50K•60K Overview A growing construction company in the Phoenix area is seeking an Accounting Specialist to support day-to-day financial operations. This role will focus on payroll, accounts payable (AP), and accounts receivable (AR) , ensuring accurate and timely processing in a fast-paced, project-based environment. Key Responsibilities Payroll Process weekly/biweekly payroll for field and office employees, including job costing allocation Maintain accurate employee records, timecards, and wage data Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations Handle payroll tax filings, deductions, and benefits reconciliation Collaborate with HR and project managers to verify hours and labor classifications Accounts Payable (AP) Enter and process vendor invoices, subcontractor pay applications, and expense reports Match invoices to purchase orders and job costs Manage payment cycles, including check runs and ACH payments Maintain vendor records and ensure proper documentation (W-9s, lien waivers, etc.) Assist with month-end close and AP reconciliations Accounts Receivable (AR) Generate and issue client invoices based on project progress and contract terms Track incoming payments and apply cash receipts accurately Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances Support project managers with billing schedules, change orders, and collections Maintain accurate customer account records Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred 2+ years of accounting experience, ideally within construction or job-costing environments Strong understanding of payroll, AP, and AR processes Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar ERP systems) Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (reporting, data analysis, and reconciliation) High attention to detail, organization, and ability to meet deadlines Preferred Experience Construction industry experience with job costing and project-based accounting Familiarity with certified payroll and subcontractor compliance requirements Experience working with multiple projects and cost codes simultaneously Why Join Stable and growing construction company in the Phoenix market Exposure to full-cycle accounting in a dynamic, project-driven environment Collaborative team with opportunities for growth and development All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, national origin, age, ancestry, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, or military or veteran status.
