We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our accounting team and serve as a key partner to the Controller. This role will be heavily involved in the monthly close process, financial reporting, inventory accounting, account reconciliations, audit support, and continuous improvement of accounting processes. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical accounting skills, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is looking for an opportunity to take on increasing responsibility within a growing organization. Key Responsibilities Month-End Close & Financial Reporting Prepare and review monthly journal entries and account reconciliations. Lead assigned portions of the monthly and year-end close process. Prepare supporting schedules and workpapers for financial statement reporting. Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports. Analyze financial results and investigate unusual variances. General Ledger & Balance Sheet Management Maintain and reconcile key balance sheet accounts. Prepare accruals, prepaids, fixed asset schedules, and other recurring accounting entries. Ensure accuracy and completeness of general ledger activity. Assist with implementation and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures. Inventory & Project Accounting Support inventory accounting, inventory reconciliations, and related controls. Assist with cycle count analysis and inventory reporting. Prepare and maintain work-in-progress schedules for long-term projects. Support job costing and project profitability analysis. Assist with revenue recognition and contract accounting processes. Audit & Compliance Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation for annual financial statement audits. Assist with lender reporting and other compliance requirements. Support maintenance of strong internal controls and accounting documentation. Process Improvement Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy within accounting processes. Assist with automation initiatives within Sage Intacct and related systems. Help document and standardize accounting procedures. Support accounting process improvements across multiple operating locations. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. 4+ years of progressive accounting experience. Strong understanding of GAAP. Experience with general ledger accounting and month-end close. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, XLookup). Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Preferred Experience supporting audited financial statements. Experience with inventory accounting. Experience in construction, contracting, manufacturing, distribution, or project-based businesses. Experience with Sage Intacct or similar ERP systems. Personal Characteristics Highly organized and detail-oriented. Strong sense of ownership and accountability. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Continuous improvement mindset. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
