Job Description

Our client, in the mining industry, is in need for a Senior/Staff Accountant to join their team on a long-term contract basis! This role will contribute to core accounting operations with a strong emphasis on cost analysis, forecasting, financial controls, and accurate monthly reporting. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams, including corporate, engineering, and project stakeholders, in a collaborative environment. Candidates who demonstrate strong performance may be considered for a longer-term opportunity.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee month-end accounting activities, ensuring financial records are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining the integrity of the general ledger.
  • Analyze project and operational costs to identify trends, support cost control efforts, and improve financial visibility.
  • Develop forecasts and assist with budgeting activities to help business leaders make informed decisions.
  • Produce monthly financial reports and explain key variances to internal stakeholders.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, bank activity, and other financial records to maintain accurate reporting.
  • Support accounting work related to S-corporation structures and related financial processes.
  • Partner with corporate and project-based teams, including contractor and engineering groups, to provide accounting insight across multiple initiatives.
