Senior Staff Accountant Location:
Bakersfield, CA (Onsite)Salary:
$85,000 – $105,000 DOE A well-established agricultural and food production company in Bakersfield is expanding its accounting team and seeking an experienced accounting professional to support ongoing growth and operational complexity. With a long-standing presence in the Central Valley, the organization has built a reputation for stability, strong financial management, and a commitment to operational excellence. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, supporting leadership decision-making, and maintaining the integrity of the company's accounting processes. The Opportunity As the accounting department continues to evolve, this position will serve as a senior member of the finance team, taking ownership of key accounting functions while partnering closely with leadership and operational departments. The Senior Staff Accountant will help drive month-end and year-end processes, support financial reporting initiatives, and contribute to process improvements. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys balancing technical accounting responsibilities with cross-functional collaboration. What You'll Do- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules
- Analyze general ledger activity and perform account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and variance analysis
- Review accounting transactions and maintain compliance with company policies and accounting standards
- Partner with leadership teams to provide financial insights, reporting support, and process improvement recommendations What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing, agriculture, food production, or a related industry
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and month-end close procedures
- Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including reporting and data analysis functions
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation or progress toward certification is preferred Why This Role Stands Out
