Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Property Accountant to join a privately held real estate organization in the Hollywood Hills. This role is not accessible by public transportation and requires you to be onsite five days a week. This role is well suited for an accounting specialist with strong commercial real estate experience who can manage property-level financial activity, maintain accurate records, and deliver reliable monthly reporting. The position works closely with leadership, including the Controller and property operations stakeholders, and requires someone who is proactive, experienced, and comfortable handling a range of accounting responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day property accounting activities, including receivables, payables, and ongoing ledger maintenance for commercial real estate assets. Prepare month-end financial packages by completing account reviews, posting journal entries, reconciling bank activity, and analyzing balances for accuracy. Maintain rent rolls and process recurring tenant charges such as rent, operating cost recoveries, and late fee assessments in a timely manner. Review lease documentation and enter critical lease terms into the property management system to support accurate billing and reporting. Support construction-related accounting by tracking project costs, recording transactions, and assisting with financial oversight for capital work. Generate scheduled and ad hoc financial reports for management, providing clear and accurate data for business decisions. Reconcile property accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure complete and reliable financial records. Collaborate directly with senior leadership and ownership representatives on accounting updates, reporting needs, and special projects. Bachelor's degree in Accounting. At least 5 years of accounting experience within commercial real estate environments. Demonstrated knowledge of property accounting functions, including month-end close, accrual accounting, general ledger analysis, accounts receivable, and accounts payable. Hands-on experience preparing financial statements, completing reconciliations, and managing tenant billing activity. Proficiency with Yardi or similar property management software, along with strong Excel skills. Background in lease administration support, including abstracting lease terms and maintaining system records. Experience with construction accounting and the ability to handle special reporting requests and project-based assignments. Clear communication style, strong initiative, and a dependable work ethic with the drive to grow professionally.
