Job Description
Description We are looking for a Staff Accountant to cover a leave of absence for a very successful company in Brea.
Job Summary:
The accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures.Duties/Responsibilities:
- Prepare and post journal entries; maintain supporting documentation.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes
- Review and analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Assist with AR/AP oversight, including cash application and vendor reconciliations.
- Monitor accruals, prepaids, and fixed assets (additions, disposals, depreciation).
- Support audit requests and provide required documentation.
- Prepare, file, and remit sales and use tax returns for multiple states, ensuring accuracy and on-time compliance with state and local regulations.
- Monitor nexus requirements and support registration and ongoing compliance in new jurisdictions as needed.
- Manage, collect, review, and maintain resale and exemption certificates, ensuring proper documentation is on file and audit ready.
- Assist with financial reporting and ad-hoc analysis as needed Requirements
- Three (3) to five (5) years of accounting experience (Construction industry a plus).
- Experience with accounting systems and a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications (Power Query, PBI, SQL)
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline,
- Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Highly proficient with accounting software.
- Collaborates with sales, accounting, and others to achieve common goals, and assist in the creation of best practices.
- Exhibits high-level problem-solving capabilities while managing and prioritizing multiple tasks.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
