Full Job Description Job Description:
6 Star Management is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the corporate office team in Calabasas, California. This position plays a key role in supporting the financial operations of the company's real estate portfolio by overseeing day-to-day and monthly accounting functions, supporting financial reporting and budgeting processes, ensuring compliance, and maintaining audit readiness across multiple entities. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and detail-oriented, with a strong understanding of real estate accounting and accrual-based financial reporting. This role requires someone who can manage competing priorities, identify discrepancies, improve workflows, and work collaboratively with property management teams and corporate staff to support accurate and timely financial operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and maintain general ledger entries across multiple entities
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
  • Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies
  • Assist with financial statement preparation and internal reporting
  • Ensure proper revenue and expense recognition in accordance with accrual accounting principles
  • Maintain intercompany transactions and reconciliations
  • Review, code, and process invoices for accuracy and proper approval routing
  • Manage accounts payable activities and vendor reconciliations
  • Monitor tenant receivables, rent collections, and delinquency reporting
  • Track lease-related activity, including rent escalations, concessions, abatements, and other billing changes
  • Perform rent roll and tenant ledger reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
  • Assist with budget variance reporting and financial analysis
  • Prepare audit schedules and support audit and tax reporting requests, including 1099 preparation
  • Collaborate with property management and corporate teams to resolve accounting discrepancies
  • Identify and support improvements to accounting processes and internal controls
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
Key Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of accrual accounting principles, general ledger activity, and month-end and year-end close processes
  • Demonstrated experience with multi-entity accounting and intercompany transactions
  • Strong Excel skills and proficiency with ERP or accounting systems required
  • Experience with Yardi, AppFolio, MRI, RealPage, or QuickBooks preferred
  • Strong analytical, organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, lease accounting, and real estate financial structures
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to identify discrepancies, research issues thoroughly, and follow through to resolution Additional Requirements (Education, Training, and Experience):
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience required
  • Prior real estate or property management accounting experience preferred
  • Experience working in a multi-entity environment strongly preferred
  • CPA designation or progress toward certification preferred

From $80,000.00 per year
