Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accountant with construction industry experience to join our team. In this vital role, you will manage comprehensive accounting functions tailored to construction projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. Your expertise will support our financial integrity and operational efficiency, contributing to the successful delivery of complex construction initiatives. Responsibilities Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment scheduling, and collections related to construction projects. Conduct detailed bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records. Perform project cost analysis, budget tracking, and forecasting to support financial decision-making for ongoing construction projects. Reconcile project accounts, verify debits & credits, and prepare journal entries for accurate financial reporting. Assist with audit preparations, including supporting documentation for internal and external audits, especially in relation to governmental accounting standards. Utilize accounting software such as PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms to streamline financial processes. Support regulatory reporting obligations and ensure all financial data aligns with legal requirements like securities law and nonprofit accounting standards. Requirements Proven experience in construction accounting or related fields with a strong understanding of project-based financial management. Familiarity with GAAP principles, accrual accounting, double entry bookkeeping, and financial report writing. Proficiency in accounting software such as PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks or Quicken; advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are essential. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and prepare detailed reports. Experience with bank reconciliation, account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and general ledger management. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated mentoring abilities to support team development and knowledge sharing in technical accounting practices. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA certification is preferred but not mandatory.
