We welcome candidates at different experience levels and are especially interested in accounting professionals with prior public accounting experience who are ready to take on greater responsibility. Starting compensation is based on experience, technical skills, and demonstrated ability. Candidates with strong public accounting, audit, or tax experience may be considered toward the higher end of the salary range. Our Staff Accountants gain hands-on experience across multiple areas of public accounting rather than being limited to one type of work. Our firm serves a variety of clients, including nonprofit organizations, governmental entities, businesses, retirement plans, and individuals. As your skills and experience grow, so will your level of responsibility. Experienced candidates may take ownership of larger portions of engagements, work more directly with clients, and assist with the development of less-experienced staff. What You'll Do Perform audit, review, and other assurance engagement procedures Prepare organized and well-supported audit and review workpapers Perform testing of account balances, transactions, internal controls, and supporting documentation Assist with the preparation of financial statements and related reports Prepare individual and business income tax returns Research accounting, auditing, and tax matters as needed Communicate directly with clients to request information, answer questions, and resolve outstanding items Manage assigned work within established budgets and deadlines Monitor the progress of assignments and communicate promptly when questions, issues, budget concerns, or deadline concerns arise Respond to review comments and make necessary workpaper or tax return revisions Maintain accurate and complete engagement documentation Work collaboratively with engagement teams while taking ownership of assigned responsibilities Take on increasing responsibility for engagements as experience and technical skills develop What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Accounting required Prior public accounting experience strongly preferred Audit and/or tax experience preferred CPA license, CPA eligibility, or progress toward certification is a plus Strong understanding of accounting principles Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently while knowing when to ask questions or seek guidance Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, complete work Ability to take ownership of assignments and follow them through to completion Experience with accounting, audit, or tax software is a plus Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications Compensation $55,000-$75,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications We recognize that Staff Accountant candidates can bring very different levels of experience. Compensation within the range will reflect prior public accounting experience, technical knowledge, ability to independently complete assigned work, and overall qualifications.
