This is a highly hands-on manufacturing accounting role that requires a candidate with recent and substantial experience supporting manufacturing operations, inventory, cost accounting, and ERP-driven production environments. The ideal candidate must be able to step into the role with minimal training and quickly operate independently within a manufacturing setting. Candidates whose backgrounds are primarily in corporate accounting, healthcare, real estate, public accounting, or non-manufacturing industries will not be considered unless they possess strong recent manufacturing accounting experience. We are specifically seeking someone with deep experience in: Manufacturing accounting operations Inventory and cost accounting Raw material, WIP, and finished goods accounting Manufacturing month-end close processes ERP systems tied to inventory and production Variance analysis and operational financial support Key Responsibilities Lead month-end and year-end close activities within a manufacturing environment Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts related to: Inventory Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) Raw materials Work-in-process (WIP) Finished goods Prepaid expenses and accruals Support and oversee cost accounting activities including: Inventory valuation Standard cost analysis Manufacturing variance analysis Cycle counts and inventory reconciliations Analyze operational and production-related financial data to support business decisions Work closely with Production, Operations, QA, and Leadership teams Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies Support sales and use tax filings and regulatory reporting Assist with internal and external audits Identify and implement accounting process improvements Review AP and AR transactions for proper coding and accuracy Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing environment Strong recent hands-on manufacturing accounting experience required Experience with: Inventory accounting Cost accounting Manufacturing financial operations ERP systems integrated with production and inventory Strong understanding of: Raw material accounting WIP accounting Finished goods accounting Manufacturing variance analysis Experience performing month-end close in a manufacturing environment Strong knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting Proficiency with accounting software (AccountMate preferred) Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities High attention to detail and accuracy Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to work independently with minimal oversight Preferred Background Ideal candidates will come from manufacturing industries such as: Cosmetics / Personal Care Food & Beverage Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Pharmaceutical Nutraceutical Chemical Manufacturing Industrial Manufacturing Tools & Systems AccountMate ERP (preferred) Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook Manufacturing financial reporting systems Work Environment Professional office environment within a manufacturing facility Prolonged sitting and computer use Occasional lifting of files or records up to 25 lbs Performance Expectations Accurate and timely manufacturing month-end close Strong inventory and cost accounting support Reliable financial reporting and operational analysis Accurate reconciliations and variance reporting Ability to function independently with minimal ramp-up time Strong collaboration with accounting and operations leadership
