Job Description
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Property Accountant to support a portfolio of residential or commercial properties in Hayward, California. This is a Contract position focused on financial reporting, reconciliations, and cash activity management, with an emphasis on accuracy and timely month-end close support. The ideal candidate brings hands-on accounting experience in property management environments and is comfortable working with Yardi and advanced Excel functions.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare recurring financial statements and supporting schedules for a portfolio of approximately 6 to 7 properties.
- Complete account reconciliations for multiple balance sheet accounts across each assigned property and investigate discrepancies as needed.
- Record cash activity accurately, including manual receipts, tenant-related payments, and housing authority deposits.
- Process check deposits in a timely manner and ensure all transactions are reflected correctly in the general ledger.
- Use Yardi to maintain property accounting records and support daily transactional accuracy.
- Build and update Excel-based reports using tools such as VLOOKUPs and pivot tables to analyze financial data and reconcile balances.

- At least 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a property management or real estate environment.
- Working knowledge of property accounting principles, including general ledger maintenance, accrual accounting, and month-end close.
- Experience using Yardi for property accounting tasks and financial record management.
- Strong Excel skills, including reconciliations, financial reporting, VLOOKUPs, and pivot tables.
- Ability to manage accounting responsibilities across multiple properties while maintaining accuracy and deadlines.
- Comfortable handling cash receipt posting, deposits, and account reconciliation volume in a fast-paced setting.
