Job Description
Construction contractor seeking a Project Accountant to handle project billing and accounts receivable. Responsibilities Prepare monthly progress billings and owner pay applications for active projects Bill change orders, extra work, and time and materials Track and bill contract retention Manage the AR aging, follow up on outstanding invoices, and escalate as needed Handle collections with owners, prime contractors, and general contractors Research and resolve billing discrepancies and short pays Prepare and exchange lien waivers; track preliminary notice and payment bond claim deadlines Maintain billing and compliance documentation by project Provide billing and receivable detail to support month-end close and job cost reporting Qualifications Required 3+ years in construction billing or project accounting Experience preparing progress billings and tracking retention Strong Excel skills Comfortable with collections calls and consistent follow-up Accurate, organized, deadline-driven, and able to work independently Preferred Public works or heavy civil experience Familiarity with California mechanics lien law, stop payment notices, and payment bond claims QuickBooks experience HCSS Certified payroll and DIR exposure Bilingual English/Spanish Equal opportunity employer.
