About the job:
Key Responsibilities:
A. Daily tax research & validation: 1. Research U.S. federal tax laws, IRS regulations, notices, revenue rulings, and tax court cases 2. Verify answers generated by the AI co-pilot for correctness and completeness 3. Provide citations, reasoning, and clarifications for inaccurate or incomplete outputs B. Application testing:
1. Test the tax research product with real-world scenarios, queries, forms, and business situations 2. Identify system errors, gaps in reasoning, or missing information 3. Work closely with the engineering team to refine workflows, tax logic, and prompt patterns C. Understanding IRS processes:
1. Review IRS publications (Pub 15, Pub 525, Pub 463, etc.) and ensure product alignment 2. Analyze changes in tax laws, credits, deductions, and filing requirements 3. Maintain an up-to-date internal knowledge base D. Scenario building:
1. Create test cases covering individual taxation (1040, credits, deductions, AMT), business taxation (1120, 1065, payroll taxes), sales tax & state-level issues (preferred but optional), and tax planning scenarios E. Collaboration:
1. Work closely with the CEO, CTO, and developers to ensure accurate tax interpretation 2. Translate tax rules into simple, structured logic that can be used by the AI system 3. Are excited to work in a fast-paced AI startup environment 7. Want to influence how AI handles tax research across the U.S. 8. Have experience at a CPA firm, tax preparation company, or as a tax analyst 9. Have experience with IRS notices, revenue procedures, and court case research 10.
