Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations for a long term contract position based in Lodi, California. This role will contribute to accurate financial reporting by managing daily accounting activity, maintaining strong ledger integrity, and assisting with monthly close processes. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience across payables, receivables, reconciliations, and sales tax compliance while working effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day accounting activities across accounts payable and accounts receivable to ensure timely and accurate processing.
- Prepare and maintain general ledger entries, ensuring financial transactions are recorded in accordance with accrual accounting principles.
- Complete bank and account reconciliations regularly, investigate discrepancies, and resolve outstanding items promptly.
- Support the month-end close cycle by preparing journal entries, reconciling balances, and assisting with financial reporting deliverables.
- Administer sales tax calculations, filings, and related documentation using CCH Sales Tax tools as needed.
- Review accounting records for accuracy and completeness, identifying issues and recommending corrective action when necessary.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to gather financial information, clarify transaction details, and maintain organized supporting documentation. Requirements
- Experience working in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role with responsibility for core general accounting functions.
- Practical knowledge of general ledger maintenance and month-end close procedures.
- Working understanding of accrual-based accounting and standard reconciliation practices.
- Hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Familiarity with sales tax processing and reporting, including experience with CCH Sales Tax.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain accurate records.
- Proficiency with accounting systems and spreadsheet tools used for financial analysis and reporting.
