Job Description:
The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Accountant Auditor I/II in the Auditor Controller department. The employee will perform a variety of professional accounting work related to the preparation and maintenance of accounting records, the audit of financial transactions and the production of reports and statements in a centralized setting; provide assistance to departments regarding financial or accounting matters and performs other duties as assigned. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the I level if incumbents have met the minimum qualifications and have demonstrated the ability to perform the responsibilities required at the higher performance level.
The ideal candidate:
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and financial recordkeeping. Experience preparing, maintaining, and analyzing accounting records, reports, and financial statements. Ability to audit and reconcile financial transactions with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Skilled in researching and resolving accounting discrepancies and financial issues. Ability to provide guidance and support to departments on accounting and financial matters. Proficient in accounting systems, financial software, and Microsoft Office applications. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain financial information clearly. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently. Commitment to providing excellent customer service and collaborating effectively with internal stakeholders. Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures. Demonstrated readiness to assume progressively responsible accounting duties and perform successfully at the next level of responsibility.

Education and Experience:
Accountant-Auditor
I MINIMUM
: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college with major coursework in accounting, finance, business, or public administration, or related field and some responsible accounting experience. Relevant accounting experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
PREFERRED
: In addition to the minimum, one (1) year of responsible accounting experience. Accountant-Auditor
II MINIMUM
: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college with major coursework in accounting, finance, business or public administration or related field and two (2) years of progressively responsible accounting experience or one year of experience equivalent to the County's class of Accountant-Auditor I. Relevant responsible accounting experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
PREFERRED
: In addition to the minimum, three (3) years of progressively responsible accounting experience in a public agency. Click for the
