Mission Viejo, CA Job Details Full-time $80,000 - $85,000 a year 1 day ago Qualifications Bachelor's degree Full Job Description General Summary The Cash Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the company's daily cash transactions, bank reconciliations, and general ledger activities while supporting the monthly financial close. This role combines traditional Accountant responsibilities with a strong focus on cash accounting, account reconciliations, and internal controls. Essential Functions Perform daily cash reconciliations for multiple bank accounts. Record and reconcile all cash receipts, ACH transactions, wire transfers, credit card deposits, and lockbox activities. Investigate and resolve outstanding reconciling items promptly. Monitor bank balances and assist with daily cash reporting. Prepare cash-related journal entries and supporting schedules. Support Positive Pay and banking administration processes. Reconcile deposits from multiple payment sources, including Point-of-Sale (POS) systems, credit card processors, lockbox receipts, ACH transactions, and electronic payment platforms to the general ledger. Research and resolve discrepancies between bank statements and the general ledger, maintaining documentation for all reconciliation adjustments. Follow up with internal departments and banking partners to resolve outstanding issues. Prepare monthly journal entries with supporting documentation and reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts. Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities. Analyze financial transactions and identify unusual variances. Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with GAAP and company policies. Assist with reconciling cash receipts and unapplied cash accounts and researching related deposit discrepancies. Coordinate with Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) regarding cash posting issues. Prepare recurring accounting reports and supporting schedules for internal and external audits. Provide supporting documentation for financial statement reviews. Assist management with ad hoc financial analyses. Job Specification Typically has the following skills or abilities: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. Minimum of two years of progressive accounting experience including performing bank reconciliations and general ledger accounting. Experience with month-end close preferred. Healthcare, retail, or multi-location accounting experience is a plus. Strong understanding of GAAP. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP, and data analysis. Experience with ERP/accounting software (Sage Intacct preferred). Experience with banking portals and treasury functions is a plus. Experience with Power Query, and Power BI desired. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. High level of integrity and professionalism.
