SUPERVISED BY
Director of Financial Accounting and Special Projects & Chief Financial Officer (CFO), DEFINITION Accountant I will mainly assist the Director of Financial Accounting and Special Projects in the daily accounting tasks and responsibilities in transactions processing, recording, bookkeeping, and implementation of MAOF procurement and other accounting policies and procedures at all times.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reviews and corrects General Ledger coding of revenue and expense line items in check requests, invoices, Purchase Requisitions, Petty Cash, and other transaction documents requiring input into the MIP Fund Accounting Software. Reviews Journal Vouchers for correct coding including payroll accounts such as payroll fees, workers compensation, group health Insurance, 403b plan contributions, etc. Reviews petty cash replenishment request and liquidation to ensure that all back-up documents are complete and general ledger coding is correct. Develops and maintains reliable financial records and accounts for the safeguarding of MAOF physical and financial assets. Assists in the preparation of audit schedules as requested by the Fiscal Officer and/or by the Chief Financial Officer in compliance with external auditors and LACOE fiscal monitor requirements from time to time and on an annual basis. Strictly implements the MAOF Procurement Policies and Procedures at all times. Reviews In-Kind or non-federal share for accuracy. Performs related duties as assigned from time to time.
REQUIRMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required. Minimum of two (2) years of accounting experience in the accounting department of a for-profit or nonprofit organization. Strong accounting and analytical skills. Proficient in accounting and spreadsheet applications; working knowledge of MIP Fund Accounting software is a plus. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the public; collaborate effectively as part of a team; and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
