Accounting Manager Position Summary Spike Electric is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant
•Project & Cost Accounting to support the Accounting Manager and Accounting Department with complex accounting activities, project accounting, cost accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, process improvement, and technical accounting support. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting fundamentals, experience working in a project or manufacturing environment, and the ability to research complex issues, develop practical solutions, and improve accounting processes and procedures. Key Responsibilities Prepare and support Percentage-of-Completion (POC), WIP, project, and job-cost accounting schedules and related analysis. Perform project-cost, margin, and Estimate-to-Complete (ETC) analysis and research significant variances. Support manufacturing and cost-accounting activities involving material costs, WIP, finished goods, and job-cost activity. Prepare complex balance-sheet reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and month-end supporting schedules. Research and resolve General Ledger discrepancies, unusual balances, posting errors, and historical accounting issues. Build and document accounting processes, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), workflows, checklists, and reconciliation procedures. Review inventory accounting reconciliations, costing activity, and significant variances prepared by the Inventory Accountant. Apply strong GAAP and revenue-recognition knowledge to project, POC, WIP, and other complex accounting transactions. Support Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central accounting improvements, testing, documentation, and process development. Prepare audit-ready reconciliations, schedules, transaction support, and accounting documentation. Use advanced Excel and data-analysis skills to analyze accounting activity, identify trends, and investigate variances. Work cross-functionally with Operations, Project Management, Procurement, Sales, Engineering, and other departments to resolve accounting issues. Identify accounting process gaps, recurring errors, and control concerns and develop recommended solutions. Provide technical accounting guidance, review, and assistance to Accounting team members as needed. Support the Accounting Manager with complex accounting research, reconciliations, process improvements, special projects, and other accounting initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 7+ years of progressive accounting experience. Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal accounting controls. Demonstrated ability to independently research and resolve complex accounting and reconciliation issues. Experience developing and improving accounting processes, internal controls, procedures, and SOPs. ERP accounting-system experience; Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience is a plus. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Strong analytical, research, organizational, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple accounting priorities and deadlines with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Experience reviewing accounting work and providing technical guidance to accounting staff.
