Job Description
Description A well-established government agency is seeking a Staff Accountant for a 5-month engagement to support year-end close and upcoming audit season. This role will play a critical part in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with governmental accounting standards. Key Responsibilities + Prepare and post journal entries (recurring and adjusting) + Perform general ledger reconciliations and account analysis + Manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes + Execute bank reconciliations and daily account balancing + Support monthly and year-end close (approx. 2-month close cycle) + Prepare and analyze accruals (including manual and energy-related accruals) + Assist with audit preparation (audit season begins in September) + Maintain and verify financial data accuracy across systems + Build and analyze data using pivot tables and advanced Excel functions + Convert/format financial documents (PDF to Word/Excel) as needed Requirements 3+ years of accounting experience (government or public sector highly preferred) Strong understanding of General Ledger and accrual-based accounting Familiarity with GAS (government accounting standards) a plus Proven experience supporting year-end close and audits High attention to detail with strong reconciliation skills Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment Robert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
