Job Description

Senior Accountant | Temp, 3+ months | San Rafael (Onsite) | $54.04/hour We are seeking a Senior Accountant with strong GAAP knowledge, advanced Excel skills, and hands-on experience in enterprise accounting systems for a 3+ month temporary assignment with a local education organization. As a member of an established and supportive team, you will support core fiscal operations including general ledger reconciliation, payroll accounting, budget monitoring, audit support, and a variety of related tasks. This role is ideal for someone who works independently with minimal direction, executes quickly and accurately, communicates clearly, and is comfortable troubleshooting and navigating accounting systems.

Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm (some flexibility)
Pay Rate:
$54.04/hour

Senior Accountant Responsibilities:
Perform hands-on general ledger accounting, including complex account reconciliations and variance analysis Prepare, review, and post journal entries and adjusting entries Support payroll accounting, including reconciliations and related journal entries Monitor expenditures against budgets and funding sources Prepare financial reports, schedules, and reconciliations for internal use and audit support Support audit activities by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries Use accounting systems to pull reports, research discrepancies, and support fiscal analysis Assist with an ERP transition to Frontline by learning new workflows and supporting evolving processes Create and maintain spreadsheets, templates, and documentation as needed (including SOPs when appropriate) Collaborate with internal stakeholders while working independently on assigned tasks
Required Qualifications:
Strong hands-on experience with general ledger accounting and reconciliation Payroll accounting experience Advanced Excel skills, including building and maintaining complex spreadsheets
Preferred Qualifications:
Fixed assets accounting experience Government, public sector, or education-related accounting experience Experience with ERP implementations or system transitions
