Senior Accountant - Customer Rebates

As a Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting the company's accounting operations. You will be responsible for preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, supporting audits, and ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This role requires strong analytical skills, the ability to handle large data volumes, and the flexibility to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities and Qualifications Key Responsibilities Month-End Close Activities Participate in month-end close activities, including the preparation and review of journal entries for accuracy and completeness Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with internal deadlines Reconciliation & Analysis Prepare and review complex monthly reconciliations of assigned balance sheet accounts Reconcile general ledger accounts, post journal entries, and assist with preparation of financial statements Reconcile intercompany accounts and post eliminating journal entries Financial Compliance & Reporting Substantiate financial transactions by providing audit-ready documentation Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for quarterly reviews and year-end audits Research issues, clarify information, and prepare detailed financial analysis Customer Rebates Manage accruals for customer rebates in compliance with GAAP Maintain tracking for customer rebates and ensure accuracy of application of customer rebates Process Improvement Identify and implement efficiencies in the month-end close cycle to reduce process time Propose and execute enhancements to accounting processes and tools Collaboration & Leadership Provide mentoring and support to junior accounting staff to support professional growth and development Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting issues and streamline processes Additional Responsibilities & Miscellaneous Perform other duties and special projects as assigned to support accounting and finance objectives Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 4-7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within large organizations ($2B+ revenue) Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, advanced formulas) and intermediate skills in Word and Outlook Proven ability to work with and manipulate large datasets in Excel Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Public accounting experience preferred Experience with ERP systems; familiarity with Ceridian Dayforce is a plus CPA certification or progress toward CPA designation preferred Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
