Job Description
Description We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a growing team in Santa Clara, California in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This role is ideal for someone who can quickly take ownership of core accounting activities, lead the monthly close cycle, and produce accurate financial reporting with minimal ramp-up time. The position is primarily remote, with occasional onsite presence as business needs require.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the month-end close process, ensuring entries are completed accurately and reporting deadlines are met.
- Prepare and maintain financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements, using NetSuite and supporting Excel schedules.
- Review and classify revenue and other financial activity into the appropriate accounts to support accurate general ledger reporting.
- Perform reconciliations for bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and other key records to identify and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations related to journal entries, ledger maintenance, and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with external tax and audit partners by supplying requested financial data and responding to accounting-related inquiries.
- Evaluate existing accounting workflows and recommend improvements that strengthen accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
- Support invoicing, payroll-related accounting, and other interconnected financial processes across integrated systems as needed. Requirements
- Proven experience working as a Senior Accountant or in a comparable accounting role with ownership of the close process.
- Strong hands-on expertise with NetSuite is required.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for reconciliations, schedules, and financial analysis.
- Solid knowledge of general ledger activity, journal entries, account reconciliations, and bank reconciliations.
- Understanding of GAAP accounting principles and application in a fast-paced business environment.
- Ability to work independently, learn quickly, and contribute with minimal supervision or training.
- Experience collaborating with external tax or audit service providers is preferred.
- Background supporting accounting operations in a startup AI or Tech company is a plus.
