Full Job Description Job Title:
Project Accountant GMH Builders is a growing commercial general contractor based in Sonoma, known for delivering high-quality projects with a team that values Grit, Mastery, and Humility. We are looking for a detailed-oriented, proactive Project Accountant who works effectively with Project Managers to support seamless project execution. PROJECT ACCOUNTANT ROLE
The Project Accountant works closely with Project Managers and reports directly to the Accounting Manager. As a Project Accountant, you will oversee project-related accounting activities, ensure accurate financial tracking, and help maintain strong relationships with clients and subcontractors. This is a full-time, on-site role in our Sonoma office.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounts Receivable Coordinate with Project Managers to prepare and process monthly progress and retention billings Monitor AR Aging and support collections Maintain strong customer service by prioritizing the project owners' needs and questions regarding payment applications Subcontractor Payables Process monthly subcontractor billings and payments Manage subcontractor compliance, including lien releases, COIs and certified payroll reporting Foster collaboration with our subcontractors with timely and resolution-focused communication General Assist with job start-up and close-out activities Create and maintain accurate and complete accounting records and supporting documentation Communicate effectively and professionally with customers, subcontractors, and internal team
QUALIFICATIONS
3+ years of construction/Project Accounting experience Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive Strong analytical and written/verbal communication skills Ability to multi-task, prioritize work, and meet deadlines Work well independently and collaborate with team Solid computer skills, including Excel Experience with Spectrum, Trimble Pay, and LCPTracker a plus
COMPENSATION
Salary:
$40-$48 per hour, depending on experience and skill set
