Under the direct supervision of the Controller, the Staff Accountant provides support with general ledger activities, monthly, year-end closings, reconciliation of bank accounts, assists with monthly revenue and expense variance analysis and provides back up support for all roles of Finance Department. This position reviews Payroll records to ensure accuracy in all aspects of the biweekly processing of SPLG's payroll. This position will be cross trained in various finance and accounting functions within the Finance Department. This position also works closely with the Senior Accountant, purchasing and managers from various departments within the agency. RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assists the Senior Accountant in all aspects of the Watsonville Law Center (WLC), a subsidiary organization. 2. Prepares general ledger entries for the WLC. 3. Assists with month-end and year-end closing for the WLC. 4. Reconciles bank accounts for the WLC. 5. Processes A/P & A/R
for WLC 6. Process payroll for the Watsonville Law Center. 7. Assists with monthly revenue and expense variance analysis 8. Assists in balance sheet accounts reconciliation. 9. Assists in ensuring accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and compliance to internal policies. 10. Develops and provides various financial data, analysis, and recommendations as requested 11. Interfaces with managers in various departments including accounting, operations, and finance. 12. Provides back-up support for all roles of Finance Department including Payroll, Accounts Payable, Purchasing and Accounts Receivable. 13. Consistently adheres to and/or exceeds SPLG's communication guidelines and expectations with internal and external customers including co-workers, patients, and external partners. 14. Communicate effectively by using welcoming words, proper tone of voice, appropriate body language, eye contact and smiling in all interactions. Listen skillfully and display a willingness and ability to acknowledge patient and co-workers' needs, expectations and values through the use of reflective listening and empathy conveyance. Respond to co-worker and patient needs in ways that are helpful and beyond expectation 15. Assists in SPLG in all aspects of payroll processing, under the guidance of the Payroll Supervisor and leads the process in the absence of the Payroll supervisor. 16. Review timesheets, track sick leave, accrual benefits, calculates deductions and termination benefits 17. Processes retroactive payments and training differentials 18. Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
AA in Accounting or actively working on it At least two (2) years of accounting experience. Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and standards. Proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook. Strong analytical skills and spreadsheet knowledge. Excellent attention to detail. Ability to meet strict deadlines. Strong organizational time management skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with Sage accounting software or similar programs. Experience working with QuickBooks. Experience working in the health care industry, preferably with a FQHC. Bilingual/biliterate in English/Spanish. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Extensive computer/keyboarding. Standing, walking, sitting, typing, reaching, bending, moving and/or lifting up to 50 pounds. SALARY Wage:
