Job Description

Experienced Accountant/Auditor Smith & Newell CPAs is a well-established accounting firm and has been providing audit, attest, tax, and accounting services to our clients for over 30 years. We provide services to a wide variety of industries and entities including governmental entities, privately-held businesses, and individuals. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to temporarily join our team as an Accountant/Auditor. You will be working on assignments that include but are not limited to governmental audit engagements, tax preparation and various other accounting functions. This position requires travel to client sites (overnight and day trips).
Responsibilities:
  • Perform accounting, auditing and other duties as needed in engagements and as assigned by supervisory personnel
  • Assist with all segments of accounting and audit engagements
  • Research accounting issues
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records
  • Prepare financial statements
  • Preparation of tax returns
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
    PRIOR EXPERIENCE IN GOVERNMENTAL ACCOUNTING/AUDITING
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting (encouraged)
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
    • Proficiency in use of current technology and accounting software programs.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Excellent time management and organizational skills
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • A proactive and eager-to-learn attitude
    Benefits:
    • $28.00/hr - $35.00/hr, (negotiable based on applicant qualifications and experience)
    • Travel expenses are paid by the employer
