Job Description

Summary of Position The Staff Accountant is responsible for providing professional technical accounting services related to primary or support duties for the following areas: Monthly and Bi-Weekly Payroll processing, audits, communications, reporting, entries; travel coordination, audits, compliance and training; Banner /Transact security coordination, compliance, and audits; general accounting reconciliations, clearing exception reports, month-quarter-year end entries, and support for other departmental functions as needed. Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Good communication skills, good customer service skills, demonstrated intermediate Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, demonstrated knowledge of Cognos, Monarch or other electronic reporting tools, and good familiarity with Banner or other ERP systems. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration or other closely related field or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience. Full-time professional accounting experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis. Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles as evidenced by at least two years' progressively responsible professional accounting, or auditing experience. Preferred Qualifications Payroll accounting experience and familiarity with Banner or ERP integrated payroll software. Demonstrated experience at a state-funded agency or higher-education institution and familiarity with Colorado State Fiscal Rules and Procurement Guidelines. Experience working with diverse communities and supporting the success of students and staff from racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented in the College. Physical & Cognitive Demands The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position. Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs. This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc. The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills. Matthews@rrcc.edu. Starting Salary Starting salary range for this position is $62,500 - $68,750 annually, commensurate with education and experience. This is a full-time, FLSA-exempt position.
